'Catcher in the Rye' First Impressions

I have just finished the first chapter of the 'Catcher in the Rye'. So far, this book is very different. It is interesting, but has a negative tone, which I feel as though few books start out with. It starts out with him explaining his "lousy childhood" as Holden explained. It also seemed like he was a very conserved person when it came to his emotions because he said that he didn't even tell his brother things and that his parents would have hemorrhages if Holden shared something personal with them, which is probably one of the reasons he is closed off. It is understandable why many schools banned the book, as there is profanity and suggestive remakes. The main character, Holden, seems like a delinquent, who has had a rough childhood so far. He talks using profanity, but it seems like it may just be for attention that he doesn't get from his parents. It is also inferred that he doesn't expect much from himself in the future because he talks about flunking out of school, the way he treats others, and how he breaks rules.
