Does true love exist? Is love at first only based on physical attraction? These were some of the questions posed at the begging of Romeo and Juliet, and now, I feel confident I can answer. Even though Romeo and Juliet was only based off of one pair of "star-crossed lovers", it is a truly universal story. This is shown by the fact that it was written in about 1594'-96' and it is still relevant today. I mean, you know its legit when Taylor Swift writes a song about it.

Does true love exist? I believe true love does exist, but I am not sure Romeo and Juliet is a story that really 'shows' that true love is real. It is easy to believe that Romeo and Juliet are perfect for each other because of their romantic encounters that are over the top (at a masquerade ball), but in reality it is unrealistic and impractical. Romeo and Juliet get married after a day of knowing each other, they are practically strangers. On account of whether love at first sight is based on physical attraction, that is pretty much saying you can look at someone and tell they aren't a crazy, mean, annoying person. Sorry, but yes, love at first sight is completely based on physical attraction. Romeo proves this when he says,"Beauty too rich for use, for earth too dear," the first time he sees her. Even though Romeo and Juliet was unrealistic, it was entertaining and I would enjoy reading it again.

Romeo and Juliet were doomed from the start. They knew of there family feud, which (Helen Fisher would agree) made there "love" for each other stronger. The thought of them rebelling against their families made their love even more of a thrill. Their families were also the ones who ended them. I agree with the prince,"Capulet! Montague! See what a scourge is laid upon your hate,That heaven finds means to kill your joys with love! And I, for winking at your discords, too. Have lost a brace of kinsmen. All are punished."
